Des convives en chapeau lèvent leur coupe autour d'un seau à champagne ; derrière eux, les rangs de vigne montent vers un château à tourelles, sous un soleil rayonnant. Tout est dessiné d'un trait blanc épais sur un aplat bleu cobalt, à la manière d'un vitrail.
Deux couleurs seulement, et beaucoup de mouvement : le tableau réchauffe un salon aux tons sable ou terre, où le bleu ressort sans rien écraser.
